My story

My mission to help others achieve lasting sobriety is fueled by the infinite gratitude I have from healing my own addiction to alcohol. Over the past decade, I have spent over 300 days in silent meditation, studied the neurobiological effects of meditation with Dr. Deborah Norris at the Mindfulness Institute, served on the Board of Trustees at the Southern California Vipassana Meditation Center, and received multiple certifications as a meditation teacher and hypnotherapist.

Prior to embarking on this mission, I was a partner at The Orchard where we grew the company from $0-$100m (now owned by Sony Music).

Methodology

  • EDUCATE

I incorporate a basic understanding of how substances hijack the brain's reward & executive function circuitry into each session to instill confidence that healing is possible.

  • Guide

I guide meditations, breath work and awareness-building exercises to enhance self-regulation and the ability to move through triggers and cravings without judgement or reaction.

  • Anchor

I help create a permanent internal feedback loop to take the guess work out of when our recovery is at risk and when it is strong.

surfing the urges

Urge surfing, at its core, draws upon the metaphor of riding ocean waves to help individuals skillfully manage and overcome cravings. Much like a surfer learns to ride the ebb and flow of waves, individuals develop the ability to observe and navigate their urges without judgment by flowing with their natural momentum, rather than resisting or succumbing to them. By using the breath as an anchor to view the impermanence of cravings objectively, individuals gain essential tools for maintaining control and resilience regardless of what life throws at them.
